Leslie Edwards

How did you get into senior living?

When I was in elementary school my grandmother worked as the cafeteria manager at the church where I attended elementary school. I always enjoyed helping her prepare meals for the evening events and weekend events that the church would have and quickly fell in love as a child with the elderly. I got my first job while I was in high school as a dishwasher at a local nursing home where I had an ED that believed that everybody including residents and staff needed 12 hugs a day. I knew then I wanted my career to be in senior living.

Who inspires you?

The residents inspire me each and every day to have the ability to be able to make a difference in their lives and know that I am truly making a difference.

How did you wind up at Inspired Living?

I worked for a large company for over 18 years and then made a decision that I needed to find my happy place and my forever home. I wanted to downsize to a smaller company so I could have that feeling of family. I worked for Zach (Zerbonia, our COO) previously and he called and told me about the opening. I interviewed and really truly felt like I had found my true happy place.

What do you want your legacy to be?

My legacy is pretty simple, anybody that knows me knows that my favorite saying is, People don’t care what you know until you show them how much you care. People might not always remember what you did but they always remember how you made them feel.
